Bigamy

It is Friday again, when I share something that I have found whilst looking for records, that is interesting or adds information to our family tree.

This article is from Sheffield Evening Telegraph, 19 September 1899, page 5
 The transcription reads:
SHEFFIELDER CHARGED WITH BIGAMY
Frederick Gilbert Smith, a fitter and turner, formerly residing at Sheffield, was charged with bigamy before Mr. J.M. Clayton, at Chesterfield, this morning. Prisoner was married at Sheffield Parish Church on May 26th, 1895, to Gertrude Julia Hockenhull, who obtained a separation and maintenance order against him for persistent cruelty in June of the following year. On May 28th, 1898, prisoner married Charlotte Wynne at Patricroft Church, Manchester, and the two lived together as man and wife at North Wingfield till June of the present year, when prisoner was arrested for arrears of payment on his first wife's maintenance order. He was committed for trial at the next Derbyshire Assizes, bail not being allowed.

Gertrude Julia Hockenhull is my first cousin, 3 times removed.
Common ancestors:
John and Sarah (Bott) Taylor are my 3rd great grandparents and the grandparents of Gertrude Julia Hockenull
