Why a picture of a beetle?
When we lived at West View, Gawsworth, we had lots of damson trees, which we used to pick and make damson jam. Mum once picked up a large beetle thinking that it was a damson. You can see the resemblance can't you?
This blog is to share the information about the families that I am researching. Families include: Boushell, Egan, Hassall, Hooley, Meakin, Roche, Wain and Westhoff.

There is a another baptism for William Hooley on 22 April 1821, in the same church, also to Jonathan and Sarah Hooley, but their residence is given as Hurdsfield and Jonathan's occupation as Stone Mason, that is why I am sure that the first is correct.

On this day, 25 September 1898, which was a Sunday, Herbert Clement Taylor, who is my 2nd great uncle was baptised in St. John the Evangelist, Hollington, Staffordshire.
There is alot of information on this small document.
Herbert Clement was born on 15 August 1898 to John Herbert and Marian Hannah Taylor. They lived in Hollington and John Herbert's occupation was quarryman. Also and this is not usual on most of the Church of England registers which I have seen, the godparents are listed as well, although a little difficult to read.
John Woodroffe - the husband of John Herbert's sister Caroline
Ernest G?? - unable to read the last name and I cannot find a relative
Julia Taylor - Herbert John's sister

I have not been able to find the 1841
census for Hannah. I thought that she might have some siblings,
so tried to find them. In all the census records, it is clearly given that she
was born in Hartington, so I tried searching for others who gave
Hartington as their birthplace. There are a few possibilities, but so far, they do not seem to match.
14 December 1846
Hannah married Isaac Wain at St Peter, Alstonefield, Staffordshire

Jedediah Wood on 1841 and 1851 census, living in Wetton, Staffordshire, born in 1797 in Alstonefield, Staffordshire, died 1871 (address given as Turnditch). Married to Elizabeth Wadsworth, who died 1848. Looks as if he was probably a neighbour and/or friend given that he was born in Alstonefield, the same area as Isaac.
Joseph Brindley, 2 possibilites, one born in Alstonefield and another with connections to Hartington.
